Concert percussion instruments such as the marimba, timpani, drum set, the xylophone, the vibraphone and the glockenspiel are used in all large symphony orchestras, show- and wind bands. Several fine percussion ensembles in The Netherlands prove that music performed only by those percussion instruments can produce an impressive sound as you can hear on this double CD with performances recorded at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade. The concert division contests for percussion ensembles of the WMC want to give full play to both classical forms and the latest developments of the music for percussion. With the coming WMC in prospect (bringing almost 20.000 performers together – more then the Olympic Games - next summer) the listener can already enjoy a series of special and modern compositions. As there are rather few compact discs with this kind of music, here you have a unique worthy acquisition for every percussion player and percussion lover!
